FY24 Capital Improvement Plan
In January of 2023, The City of Providence passed the FY24 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), a commitment to investing $132 million in infrastructure enhancements over the next two fiscal years. The plan, shaped by community feedback from the Community Satisfaction Survey, prioritizes critical areas such as sidewalk repairs, road maintenance, and sewer management, with substantial allocations earmarked for public works, public safety structures, and recreational facilities. Notably, investments in public parks and greenspaces aim to enhance community well-being. At the same time, street safety and climate resiliency initiatives underscore a forward-looking approach. This comprehensive plan, spanning five years, highlights the city’s commitment to addressing its long-term infrastructure needs, with funding sourced from the FY24 budget and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) federal funding. Furthermore, the plan includes $35 million per year over the next five years for Sewers and Stormwater Management, with additional allocations for specific projects such as $3 million for India Point Park seawall repairs beginning in FY2026, and $3.9 million for Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council federal match, which will commence in FY24.
